Article: Boutique Wholesale Fabric Playbook for the Rakhi Wind-Down and Ganesh Chaturthi Ramp

Boutique-wholesale-fabric-play-book

Boutique Wholesale Fabric Playbook for the Rakhi Wind-Down and Ganesh Chaturthi Ramp

This is the 8-week window. Aug 7 to Oct 5. Rakhi bolts wind down by Sunday night. Ganesh Chaturthi red, orange, yellow bolts have to land on your Nashik or Nagpur floor by Aug 25.

Freight cutoff for that? Monday Aug 10 morning from our Lajpat Nagar gaddi.

Wholesale fabric restocking August 2026 is not one decision. It is three:

  • Wind down Rakhi pastel thaan.
  • Book the Ganesh Chaturthi bolt.
  • Line up Navratri and Diwali karigar slots (October, separate conversation).

Most boutique owners on the PGF Insider WhatsApp are running August like one long event month. It is a compound freight problem with two very different colour palettes sitting three weeks apart.

Here is exactly what I am telling boutique-wala regulars in Nashik, Pune, Aurangabad, Indore, Ahmedabad this week.

Quick Answer. For boutique wholesale fabric Ganesh Chaturthi restocking in the Aug 7 to Oct 5 window, book your red, orange, marigold, yellow bolts by Monday Aug 10 morning from Delhi. That is the LR cutoff to reach Nashik, Nagpur, Pune, Aurangabad, Indore, Ahmedabad by Aug 25. Wind down Rakhi pastel thaan by Sunday night with counter-cut retail, not discount pricing.

The August boutique window in one paragraph

August is not a month. It is three overlapping sub-windows:

  • Rakhi wind-down (Aug 7 to 10). Pastel thaan cleared or repositioned by Sunday night.
  • Dead week (Aug 11 to 20). Footfall drops. Karigars finish pending stitching. Floor gets reset.
  • Ganesh Chaturthi ramp (Aug 20 to Sep 14). Marathi households in Nashik, Pune, Nagpur, Aurangabad, Thane plus Marathi pockets of Delhi buy kurti fabric, blouse fabric, dupatta bolts, family co-ord fabric.

Ganesh Chaturthi lands Monday Sep 14 this year. If your bolts land Sep 5, you miss the pre-festival footfall wave.

Book by Monday Aug 10. Simple economics.

The five Ganesh Chaturthi fabric bolts I am recommending to boutique owners this week

1. Printed cotton bolt in marigold, red, orange (Rs 145 to Rs 195 per metre wholesale, Rs 7000 to Rs 9500 per thaan of 50m)

The workhorse. Ganesh customer wants a Ganpati-aarti-morning fabric for kurti cutting or salwar suit fabric cutting.

Marigold prints on red base move fastest in Nashik and Pune boutiques. MOQ is one thaan per colour.

Boutiques cut 2.5 metre salwar suit fabric pieces from this thaan, so 18 to 20 pieces per bolt. Turn rate in Ganesh week runs around 75 percent if the print is fresh.

2. Dyeable cotton bolt for in-house dye lots (Rs 110 to Rs 155 per metre wholesale, Rs 5500 to Rs 7500 per thaan)

For boutique owners running a matching lot with a local dyer in Nashik or Pune, dyeable cotton is the lowest cost per metre entry.

Buy the greige, dye to whatever red or orange your regulars want, cut and sell. MOQ is one thaan. Karigar cost for dye adds Rs 30 to Rs 50 per metre in your city.

3. Cotton silk in coral, mango, saffron (Rs 540 to Rs 720 per metre wholesale, Rs 27000 to Rs 34000 per thaan)

The upsell fabric. Cotton silk in Ganesh warm colours cuts into blouse fabric for silk sarees, kurti fabric for higher-ticket customers, salwar suit fabric pieces for the boutique's better shopper.

If your regulars sit in the Rs 800 to Rs 1500 per metre retail bracket, stock this. If you sit under Rs 500 retail, skip it. Double down on printed cotton instead.

4. Brocade thaan for kurti and blouse cutting (Rs 380 to Rs 520 per metre wholesale, Rs 19000 to Rs 25000 per thaan)

Ganesh Chaturthi mandap darshan events pull demand for brocade kurti fabric and blouse fabric. Red brocade with gold buta. Orange brocade with copper buta.

MOQ is one thaan. Boutique owners in Aurangabad and Indore report strong movement for brocade blouse cutting through Ganesh week.

Browse the festive collection for the buta options we are pushing this week.

5. Net bolt for dupatta cutting (Rs 95 to Rs 145 per metre wholesale, Rs 4800 to Rs 7000 per thaan)

The dupatta bolt is not always the star. It is the boutique's margin cushion.

Net dupattas in red, orange, saffron cut from a 50m thaan give you around 22 dupattas at 2.25m each. Wholesale cost per dupatta lands Rs 220 to Rs 320. Retail sits Rs 550 to Rs 850.

That is where the boutique-wala margin lives.

How to wind down Rakhi bolts this weekend without discount losses

Rakhi pastel thaan does not need a discount sticker. It needs a repositioning story.

Play 1. Reposition pastel Rakhi thaan onto the Ganesh soft-palette shelf. Dusty mauve, pista, mustard, dusty rose are exactly the colours a Marathi customer wants for a Ganesh Chaturthi kurti for the older daughter or the mother-in-law who does not want bright red. Same fabric. Different story. Full price hold.

Play 2. Roll white Independence Day stock to September school-function. Plain white kurta fabric that did not clear Aug 11 to 15 becomes September school function stock. No discount.

Play 3. Cover loud red-gold Rakhi zari for Karwa Chauth (Oct 20). Karwa Chauth buyers want exactly this palette. Cover it up now. Sell it in October at full margin.

Discount losses in August are self-inflicted. If a bolt is stuck, it is a story problem, not a price problem.

Four mistakes I see boutique owners make in the August-September wholesale window

Mistake 1: Booking Ganesh bolts on Aug 15. By Aug 15, Delhi gaddi is out of the good marigold prints. Karigar dye lots are backed up. Transporter LR slots for Nashik and Pune are 5 to 6 days out.

Book Monday Aug 10. Freight leaves Wednesday Aug 12. LR reaches Nashik or Pune by Aug 18 to 20.

Mistake 2: Ordering one thaan per colour then re-ordering Aug 25. Second-lot dye rarely matches first-lot. If your customer bought the first cut on Aug 22 and comes back Aug 30 for a matching piece, your re-order shade is off.

Buy two thaan per fast colour in the first booking. Save the dye lot mismatch conversation.

Mistake 3: Skipping the Marathi red-orange-yellow triad. Non-Maharashtra boutique owners often stock only red for Ganesh. Marathi households buy the red-orange-yellow combination for family co-ord. Stock all three colours or you lose the family basket entirely.

Mistake 4: Not calculating freight before quoting your customer. Freight from Delhi to Nashik through transporter (Rajdhani, VRL, TCI) sits Rs 45 to Rs 75 per kilo.

Weight per 50m thaan:

  • Cotton thaan: 4 to 6 kilos.
  • Brocade thaan: 7 to 9 kilos.
  • Net or organza thaan: 2 to 3 kilos (volumetric adds 20 to 30 percent).

Add this to landed cost before you set retail on the shelf tag.

Delhi wholesale prices this week (Aug 7 gaddi rates)

Lajpat Nagar gaddi rates as of Friday Aug 7 morning. Chandni Chowk and Karol Bagh rates run within 5 to 8 percent of these numbers.

Fabric Per metre wholesale Per thaan (50m) MOQ Freight to Nashik or Pune
Printed cotton (Ganesh palette) Rs 145 to Rs 195 Rs 7000 to Rs 9500 1 thaan Rs 45 to Rs 75 per kilo LR
Dyeable cotton (greige) Rs 110 to Rs 155 Rs 5500 to Rs 7500 1 thaan Rs 45 to Rs 75 per kilo LR
Cotton silk (coral, mango, saffron) Rs 540 to Rs 720 Rs 27000 to Rs 34000 1 thaan Rs 55 to Rs 90 per kilo LR
Brocade (red, orange with buta) Rs 380 to Rs 520 Rs 19000 to Rs 25000 1 thaan Rs 60 to Rs 95 per kilo LR
Net (dupatta cutting) Rs 95 to Rs 145 Rs 4800 to Rs 7000 1 thaan Rs 45 to Rs 75 per kilo LR

Freight, MOQ and Monday cutoff details for August 10 booking

Monday Aug 10 morning is the cutoff for Delhi dispatch. Landing schedule from Wednesday Aug 12 pickup:

  • Nashik, Pune, Nagpur, Aurangabad: Aug 18 to 20.
  • Ahmedabad, Indore: Aug 16 to 18.

Transporter options from Lajpat Nagar to Maharashtra:

  • Rajdhani Logistics. Delhi to Nashik LR twice a week.
  • VRL Logistics. Daily to Pune with a Nashik drop.
  • TCI. Delhi to Nagpur three times a week.

Bilty is generated within 24 hours of pickup, shared on WhatsApp with the boutique owner.

MOQ from our gaddi:

  • One thaan (50m) per colour per fabric family.
  • Combined order across colours or fabric families can start from Rs 25,000.
  • Credit terms of 15 days apply on orders above Rs 60,000 for boutique-wala regulars with three or more completed orders on PGF Insider.

Freight is calculated on actual weight or volumetric weight, whichever is higher. Cotton thaan is dense (weight-basis). Net or organza thaan runs light-volume (volumetric-basis adds around 20 to 30 percent to freight).

Questions boutique owners ask me on WhatsApp about the August-September wholesale window

What is the last date to book Ganesh Chaturthi wholesale bolts for a Nashik or Pune boutique?

Book by Monday Aug 10 morning from our Lajpat Nagar gaddi. Dispatch happens Wednesday Aug 12. LR lands Nashik or Pune by Aug 18 to 20. That gives you five clear counter days before Ganesh Chaturthi Monday Sep 14 pre-festival footfall builds up.

Can I mix colours in one thaan to reduce MOQ?

No. One thaan runs continuous on one dye lot per colour. What you can do is combine multiple fabric families in one order (printed cotton thaan plus brocade thaan plus net thaan) to hit the Rs 25,000 combined-order threshold from our gaddi.

Should I book brocade bolts if my regulars are under Rs 500 retail?

Skip brocade if your average customer sits under Rs 500 per metre retail. Brocade lands you Rs 700 to Rs 900 retail per metre after margin. That is a different customer bracket. Stick to printed cotton or net for the sub-Rs 500 retail boutique.

What is the freight for a Ganesh bundle (3 thaan cotton, 1 thaan brocade, 1 thaan net) to Aurangabad?

That bundle weighs around 26 to 32 kilos combined. Freight from Delhi to Aurangabad through TCI or VRL runs Rs 55 to Rs 85 per kilo. Freight sits between Rs 1500 and Rs 2700 for the full bundle. Bilty or LR shared same day of pickup.

Do you extend credit for first-time boutique orders?

First-time boutique orders are on advance payment. From the third completed order onwards, PGF Insider boutique-wala regulars qualify for 15-day credit on orders above Rs 60,000. Case-by-case call, based on order history or geography.

Ready to book your gaddi?

Monday Aug 10 morning is the freight cutoff for Ganesh Chaturthi Delhi dispatch that lands Maharashtra by Aug 18 to 20. Miss it, your bolts land Sep 1 to 5. Too tight for the pre-festival counter week.

WhatsApp +91 96544 40244 with:

  • Your boutique PIN code.
  • Target thaan count.
  • Colour split by fabric family.

We will send back a landed-cost quote (per thaan wholesale + freight + expected LR date) within 4 hours. PGF Insider regulars also get Monday morning first-look photos of new arrivals every week.

Browse the dyeable embroidery collection for the salwar suit fabric bolts I have shortlisted here. Book by Monday Aug 10 morning.
