Wholesale Georgette Fabric August 2026: The Boutique Restocking Playbook For Diwali And Winter Weddings

August restocking week is on.

Boutique owners from Jaipur, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Indore and Pune have been in Lajpat Nagar since Monday morning.

Every one of them is asking the same question in slightly different words.

Bhaiya, what should I stock for Diwali. What holds till end November. Which georgette moves. Which sequin sits. Show me the actual bestseller list, not the marketplace fantasy.

Twelve years of running the wholesale desk during August restocking week has taught me one clear truth. Boutique owners who buy the right thaans in the first week of August end the winter wedding season with clean shelves and full cash counters. The ones who wait till September pay 20 percent more and get the leftover shades. Here is the playbook.

Quick answer: For August 2026 restocking, the reliable wholesale picks for Diwali and October to December winter weddings are:

  • Plain georgette in jewel tones : Rs 180 to Rs 320 per metre
  • Sequin-scatter georgette : Rs 340 to Rs 580 per metre
  • Korean soft net in bridal shades : Rs 220 to Rs 420 per metre
  • Sequin-worked net : Rs 380 to Rs 720 per metre

Order 30 to 50 metre thaans, not cut lengths. Book by 18 August to lock in current rates.

Why August is the critical restocking window (and not September)

Wholesale fabric prices in the Delhi Chandni Chowk to Nabi Karim corridor firm up in a predictable pattern.

First week of August: baseline. Second week of August: 5 percent up. Third week: 8 to 12 percent up. First week of September: 15 to 22 percent up because Diwali cluster orders start flowing.

A boutique owner who books thaans in the first two weeks of August pays baseline. A boutique owner who waits till September pays a surcharge on every thaan and still gets what is left after the big wholesale buyers have picked the best shades.

The second reason August matters. Karigar bandwidth. Blouse-stitching and embellishment karigars in Nabi Karim close their October and November book by 22 August. Miss that window and you cannot deliver custom-stitched pieces for the Diwali and winter wedding rush.

The 5 thaan types I recommend boutiques restock this August

Plain georgette in jewel tones

The thaan that pays for itself fastest. Emerald, wine, midnight blue, deep mustard, antique rust. These five shades move as sangeet blouse fabric, reception dupatta fabric, festive dress material and Diwali kurta fabric.

Buy 30-metre thaans in five shades. Full-thaan margin lands 55 to 70 percent.

  • Best for: Every boutique format
  • Metres: 30 to 50 per thaan
  • Wholesale rate: Rs 180 to Rs 320 per metre

Sequin-scatter georgette

The highest-cross-utility thaan of the season. Cuts into sangeet lehenga skirts (3.5m). Cuts into Diwali kurta tops (2.5m). Cuts into cocktail dress fabric (3m). One thaan serves three occasions.

Buy 40-metre thaans in three shades: emerald, wine, midnight blue.

Korean soft net in bridal shades

The fabric that moves through November and December. Peak winter wedding season in North India. Cousins, sisters, aunts all buy lehenga skirt fabric in soft net.

Restock ivory, powder pink, dusty peach, champagne, pistachio and sky blue. Six shades. Buy 30-metre thaans.

Sequin-worked net

The highest ticket price per metre and the highest gross margin. Full-worked sequin net thaans in bridal shades (deep red, maroon, gold, wine, midnight blue) cut into bride lehengas, bride cousin lehengas and mother-of-bride skirts.

Stock only two thaans if budget is tight: deep red and midnight blue.

Organza with hand-sequin scatter

The Diwali dupatta bestseller across almost every boutique format. Ivory, dusty rose, pistachio, powder pink, muted mustard.

Buy 25-metre thaans (smaller than georgette or net because dupatta cuts are 2.5 metres each).

How to plan the August restocking order

Two things from twelve years of watching boutique owners get this right (and wrong).

First, order by projected September and October retail demand, not by what looks good on the thaan roll today. A muted mustard organza scatter looks less exciting on the shelf than a bright fuchsia, but the muted mustard will sell out three times faster in Diwali week.

Second, split the order across thaans. Do not put the full August budget into one heavy sequin thaan. Spread across five thaan types with 30-metre lots each.

Skip fluorescent shades in every category. They date the entire restocking round.

Questions boutique owners ask me at the wholesale desk

When should a boutique restock for Diwali and winter weddings in 2026?

First and second week of August 2026 (by 18 August at the latest). Wholesale prices firm up 5 percent by second week, 8 to 12 percent by third week, and 15 to 22 percent by first week of September.

What is the minimum thaan size for wholesale georgette in Delhi?

30 metres per thaan is the standard wholesale minimum in the Chandni Chowk to Nabi Karim corridor. Some mills accept 25 metres for entry orders.

Which georgette shades sell fastest for Diwali and winter weddings?

Emerald, wine, midnight blue, deep mustard, antique rust and dusty rose. These six jewel tones cross-utilise across sangeet, cocktail, Diwali kurta and festive dupatta demand.

Is Korean soft net better than Chinese net for winter wedding lehengas?

Korean soft net has a smoother hand, less itch, better drape and holds embroidery better. Justifies the Rs 40 to Rs 80 per metre premium for wedding retail.

Can I get a first-time wholesale account with same-day dispatch?

Yes. Paras Gallery Fabrics ships wholesale thaans same-day for orders confirmed before 3 pm IST Monday to Friday. First-order onboarding is a single-page form.
